Rocket League is free to play from 23 September

Psyonix has announced that Rocket League will be free to play from September 23. It was already known that this was coming, although the developer had so far not mentioned a date for when this will take effect.

It was already clear that Rocket League free-to-play, a move that was expected after Epic Games took over Psyonix last year. Playing the game for free also applies to the consoles. no more PlayStation Plus or Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions to play Rocket League online, but that doesn’t apply for Xbox Live Gold.

Players will be able to connect different platforms through the Epic Games Account starting Thursday. That allows cross-platform progression possible. That means that items, Rocket Pass progression, and the rank achieved in Competitive Rank are preserved when a player plays the game on another platform.
