Borderlands 3 gets next gen update with split screen option for four players

Gearbox will provide Borderlands 3 with a free update for next-gen consoles. The game will run in single-player mode on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 4k resolution at 60fps. The game also gets a four-player split screen option for local co-op.

Alike the option to quarter the screen, Borderlands 3 also has the option to choose from both a vertical and horizontal split of the screen for two players. That choice also comes to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game with an update.

The ability to co-op with four players locally is only available for microsoft and Sony’s next-gen consoles. Gearbox also promises a graphics update for those consoles, which brings the resolution to 4k with a frame rate of 60fps. This applies to single player mode; details about resolution and framerate in other modes does not give the developer.

Later this year Borderlands 3 will also receive a new paid expansion, which is not part of the Season Pass. It’s not about complementing the story, it’s about a completely new game mode and a new skill tree for all Vault Hunters, with new Action Skills. Details about the new game mode are not yet there and it is not known when the extension will appear. Borderlands 3 came out a year ago.
