Manufacturer Arlo has presented a wireless version of its video doorbell. This version no longer needs the wiring of a traditional doorbell to function. The doorbell has a built-in battery that should last three to six months
The doorbell with built-in battery should make installation easier, arlo. The wired video doorbell also uses the ‘dingdong’ of the traditional doorbell. Because the new version can’t do that, early next year there will be a separate device called Chime to make noise in the house when someone rings the bell.
For the rest, the wireless doorbell is the same as the previous model, that since this summer is on sale in the Netherlands. The company’s video doorbell has a 180-degree angle of view and a 1:1 aspect ratio. According to the company, this makes it possible to fully image a person. The resolution of the bell is 1536×1536 pixels. The bell has, among other things, a night mode with an infrared lens and an ‘always-on function’.
Without an Arlo Premier subscription users can’t look back at images. With a subscription of 2.79 euros per month per camera, this can be done, up to 30 days back. Users can also store images offline if they have the Arlo Base Station. Arlo, which was once part of Netgear, announced the wired bell last year. The wireless bubble in the US costs $199, $50 more than the wired version. The new version is not yet on the Dutch website.
