Middle school boys can be a handful. Tracking dirt into the house, crashing their bikes, helping Anonymous take down the local government’s websites. Wait, what?

Apparently not every kid is content roughhousing in the back yard. This week, a 12-year-old Canadian boy pleaded guilty to hacking into government and police websites as part of an Anonymous takedown spurred by Quebec student protests in May 2012. The boy, who was 11 at the time, dredged up administrator credentials for websites belonging to Montreal police, the Quebec Institute of Public Health, and the National Assembly of Quebec, and passed the info to Anonymous. In return, he got a pile of video games. Strong bartering, kid.

While others have been arrested in connection with the DDoS attacks that resulted, the court was told that the kid’s information opened the door for the resulting mayhem. Sentencing occurs next month, but we’re betting Li’l Hackeroo is already severely grounded. [Naked Security via Daily Dot]
